US upgrades Israel to status above any other country

The House Foreign Affairs Committee approved on Wednesday a bill that would enhance US-Israel defence ties and waived US entrance visa for Israelis.

Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Congressman Ted Deutch initiated the bill as they are the top two members on the committee's Middle East subcommittee; they strongly supported the bill, which was unanimously approved.

The bill named Israel a "major strategic ally" of the United States. It included measures that would encourage enhanced cooperation such as missile development, energy and security. No other state has ever got this status.

American student describes "Diversity Training"

As you are probably aware, all new TAs in the History Department are required to attend one orientation session, two TA training sessions, and two diversity sessions. Yesterday (Friday, September 20th), we new TAs attended the first of the diversity sessions. To be quite blunt, I was appalled. What we were given, under the rubric of “diversity,” was an avalanche of insinuations, outright accusations, and suffocating political indoctrination (or, as some of the worksheets revealingly put it, “re-education”) entirely unbecoming a university of our stature.

For example, in one of the handouts that our facilitator asked us to read (“Detour-Spotting: for white anti-racists,” by joan olsson [sic]), we learned things like, “As white infants we were fed a pabulum of racist propaganda,” “…there was no escaping the daily racist propaganda,” and, perhaps most even-handed of all, “Racism continues in the name of all white people.” Perhaps the Korean woman did not read carefully enough to realize that only white people (all of them, in fact) are racist. Nevertheless, in a manner stunningly redolent of “self-criticism” during the Cultural Revolution in communist China, the implication of the entire session was that everyone was suspect, and everyone had some explaining to do.

US to pass law for more money and wars for Israel

The ambitious goal to be formally designated as the United States' "major strategic ally" is apparently on the agenda at the annual American-Israeli Public Affairs Committee gathering that's kicking off in Washington, known as AIPAC. If the plan becomes legislation, it could oblige the US to support Israel diplomatically and militarily if it strikes Iran. 

Robert Naiman (JEW), policy director at Just Foreign Policy, says that it could also exempt Israel from any reduction in foreign aid that might result from budget cuts.

Jews Welcome Appointment of U.S. "Anti-Semitism Envoy" to Confront "Global Increase in Anti-Semitism"

The Department's International Religious Freedom Report specifically points to violence and desecration that has resulted from an increase in anti-Semitism "by government officials, religious leaders, and the media, particularly in Venezuela, Egypt and Iran."

The Special Envoy provides input on anti-Semitism for these reports, which provides details on every country in the world, including a focus on anti-Semitic incidents, including personal and property attacks; government policies, court cases, and educational programs.

(Jew) Bloomberg: Interpretation of Constitution 'will have to change' after bombings

According to New York Mayor Michael Bloomberg, Americans will have to deal with less freedom and less privacy after the Boston Marathon bombings, and the nation will have to look at the Constitution in a much different way, The Blaze reported Tuesday.

“The people who are worried about privacy have a legitimate worry, but we live in a complex world where you’re going to have to have a level of security greater than you did back in the olden days, if you will,” he said at a press conference on Monday.

“And our laws and our interpretation of the Constitution, I think, have to change,” he added.

The Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction runs several programs that heavily emphasize racial issues in public schools.

Some feel that one of those programs – an Americorps operation called VISTA (Volunteers in Service to America) – may go a bit overboard by encouraging white students to wear a white wristband “as a reminder about your (white) privilege.”

California passes law to criminalize criticism of Israel

Last month, the California State Assembly passed a resolution urging state educational institutions to more aggressively crack down on criticism of the State of Israel on campuses, which the resolution defines as “anti-Semitism.”...

US passes law to hand over more money and military "aid" to needful Israel

The bill was introduced by Sen. Barbara Boxer, D-Calif.

In addition to extending U.S. government-backed loan guarantees to Israel through 2015, both bills urge expanded technology sharing and joint military exercises.

Specifically, lawmakers call for the U.S. to:

• Expand already-close intelligence cooperation, including satellite intelligence.

• Provide through possible lend-lease arrangements new weaponry, including air refueling tankers, missile defense capabilities and “specialized munitions.”

• Improve the process for Israel’s purchase of F-35 Joint Strike Fighters to allow for greater cost efficiencies and “on-time delivery.”

• Expand joint military exercises to address emerging common threats.

• Offer the Israel Air Force additional training opportunities in the U.S. to compensate for Israel’s limited air space.

• Encourage an expanded role for Israel within NATO, “including enhanced presence at NATO headquarters and exercises.”

• Make surplus defense gear and services available to Israel, particularly those resulting from the U.S. pullout from Iraq.

• Strengthen efforts to prevent weapon smuggling into Gaza and threats infiltrating from the Sinai Peninsula.

• Allocate additional weaponry and munitions and extend the time allocated for U.S. war reserves stockpiled in Israel.

• Expand bilateral cooperation in homeland security, counterterrorism, maritime security, energy, cybersecurity and related areas.

• Take action to integrate Israel into the U.S. defense network for the eastern Mediterranean.

Finally, the bill passed by the House authorizes Israel’s expanded use of grant military aid to be applied more broadly for commercial rather than foreign military sales.

The enhancements come in addition to more than $3 billion in annual U.S. grant military aid to Israel and a separate bill pending in both houses of Congress for another $680 million in multiyear funding for Israel’s Iron Dome rocket defense system. …

Within 180 days of its enactment into law, the act directs U.S. President Barack Obama to report on specific steps his administration is taking to preserve Israel’s qualitative military edge.
