The INS Rahav is Israel's fifth Dolphin-class submarine. All were acquired from Germany. The fourth vessel, the INS Tanin, was launched in Germany a year ago and is expected to arrive in Israel and be put into service by the navy in the next few months.
...
Germany will cover a third of the total cost, paying 135 million euros. Similar agreements were reached with Germany for both the Rahav and the Tanin.

German Foreign Minister: German Holocaust responsibility has no expiration date
Germany’s debt for the “crimes against humanity” of the Holocaust means for it “the existence and security of Israel are not negotiable”, German Foreign Minister Guido Westerwelle told attendees of a memorial service to Berlin’s Jewish deportees last Thursday.
...
Commemorating such atrocities should serve as a reminder that “German responsibility for the crimes against humanity of the Shoah (Holocaust) has no expiration date. The story does not end with a generation”.

Defusing 'Mein Kampf' by distributing it with Semitically Correct annotations
In fact, the book's contents were considered potent and infectious enough that the postwar administration in Allied-occupied Germany banned its publication, a prohibition that German authorities maintained, and which is to remain in place until the end of 2015, when the copyright expires. What happens then is the object of intense discussion and soul-searching in Germany, where, 67 years after the war's end, freedom of speech is still curtailed when it promotes Nazi ideology.
...
Most observers feel that Germans have long possessed the political sophistication to have Mein Kampf readily available in bookstores, and that the ban has outlived its purpose. "German society as a whole is now mature enough," says Bernd Wagner, an expert on right-wing extremism who runs a program for neo-Nazis opting to leave the scene.
Germany's democratic socialist party, the Left Party, blasts the annotated version as a misguided approach. "The right-wing scene has always had access to the book," said a news release from the party, "and an annotated edition simply contributes to the wider dissemination of fascist thinking under the guise of scholarship." The Left Party, particularly strong in eastern Germany, maintains that Mein Kampf should be banned completely in Germany, because it constitutes inflammatory fascist propaganda.
...
But the historian Frei responds that "in order to prevent publication, the state would either have to prove it was inflammatory or create a new law. Why should we give Adolf Hitler the honor of going to so much trouble so long after his death?"
So much care and frustration for a ninety year old book that writes the truth. Anyway, nobody beats Germans when it comes to quasi-religious servility before Jews...

"Mein Kampf is like a rusty old grenade. We want to remove its detonator," explains Christian Hartmann, who leads the Munich team. "We intend to defuse the book. This way it will lose its symbolic value and become what it really is: a piece of historical evidence—nothing more."

More generally, Schoeps (director of the Moses Mendelssohn Center for European-Jewish Studies, at the University of Potsdam) argues that annotations should be ample, not just minimal footnotes, and that they should explicitly underscore connections and explain nuances.

Israel gets two more German submarines (for free)
Including the two new ones, Israel has five German submarines -- the most expensive weapon platforms in Israel's arsenal.
Germany, which believes it has a historic responsibility to help Israel because of the mass murder of Jews in World War II, donated the first two submarines after the 1991 Gulf War.
It split the cost of the third with the Jewish state.

Israelis flock to Germany
Source: http://www.thejc.com/comment-and-debate/analysis/55167/israelis-flock-germany
Another reason why some Israelis are coming here is that Jews whose parents or grandparents were persecuted by the Nazis are eligible for a German passport, and are enticed by the potential benefits of being an EU citizen.Israeli sociologist Sima Zalcberg found that about 100,000 Israelis hold a German passport, and about 7,000 people per year apply for citizenship at the German embassy in Tel Aviv.

German schoolgirl sentenced to forced Holocaust reeducation for using "unconstitutional" signs
Two friends (16/22) * Lisa (16) (* name changed) accused of using unconstitutional symbols. They had 33 posters smearing the party "The Left" with swastikas and SS runes. Lisa said: "Actually I do not even know about the SS ..."
What does one do with such a girl? Judge Reinhardt Hering had a wise idea: He made one but the case against Lisa, but issued a requirement that they will most certainly make them think.
You must buy "Diary of Anne Frank", read it and write an essay about it. All in 10 days! A spokesman for the court justified the unusual measure: "The aim in the juvenile justice rather than punishment, is education. Hopefully they learned something out of it. Germany under Jews: Israel Turns to Germany for Naval Stealth Ships
Being a loyal supplier of naval equipment for many years, Germany is considered a safe choice for Israel. Germany already provided two Dolphin class submarines to Israel at no cost and waived part of the cost for the remaining three. The reason for the generous German gesture is the understanding that claims for increased compensation for remaining survivors of the holocaust will be deferred.

Activists say teachers need better training on how to spot far-right parents and how to counter any attempts by them to influence their work.
... We have noticed that the children of far-right parents tend to be very uncommunicative. When you ask them on a Monday what they did that weekend they won't tell you.
